He was born in the village of Ilija near Banská Štiavnica. He was an academic sculptor and medallist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava from 1949 to 1954 in the figurative sculpture studio under Prof. Jozef Kostka. He died in Bratislava.

He is the author of several memorials; in his native village of Ilija he created a memorial to the victims of the Second World War (early 1960s) and a sculpture of the Knights of Sitno on the wall near his home.

He died on 23 September 2014.

In Prievidza he created the bust of Samo Chalupka.
